Help & support

A little guidance for your daily practice.

Get in touch

For app questions, technical problems, accessibility needs, feedback, or privacy requests, email help@spxc.app.

SPXC is provided by SPXC. Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, app version, and what happened. Please remove learner names and other personal details from screenshots and messages.

Getting started

SPXC requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. Open a catechism section, read or listen to the question, and begin a practice set. A local Learner profile is created for you; no online account or personal API key is needed.

Use Account to add or rename learners. Each learner’s progress and saved answers remain separate on the same device.

Speaking & listening

The microphone is not working

Allow microphone access when prompted. If you declined, open your device’s Settings, find SPXC, and enable Microphone. Check any Speech Recognition permission if shown. If the controls are unavailable, check Screen Time restrictions.

Try again in a quiet place. Check whether a connected headset is being used as the microphone.

Speech recognition is still preparing

The app uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The first preparation may need an internet connection to download speech assets. Keep the app open while preparation finishes, then try practice again.

I cannot hear the narration

Turn up the device’s media volume and check its audio output, including Bluetooth headphones or speakers. Try replaying the question or answer.

Can I practice offline?

Reading, recorded narration, and local exact-answer checking are available offline. Spoken practice requires the speech assets to have been prepared first. Optional online meaning checks require an internet connection and are for adult learners aged 18 or older. Turn Semantic Review and usage sharing off before a child practices; do not submit reports containing a child’s answers.

Answer checking

What do the scores mean?

A complete local match earns 100% and word-for-word recognition. Optional Semantic Review estimates how adequately your answer matches the reference meaning. Scores of 70% or higher pass.

An AI score is an estimate, not a count of facts recalled. Both speech recognition and AI checking can make mistakes. Use the catechism answer as your reference.

Online checking is unavailable

Open the app’s menu, then Semantic Review. Confirm that it is enabled and check the connection status. Online checking needs internet access and a supported physical device.

If checking fails, use Try again or Retry checking, or skip the question and return later. A service error is left ungraded. Exact answers can still be checked locally with Semantic Review switched off.

An answer was graded incorrectly

Choose Report for the affected answer. An adult can review the question, transcript, and result, edit or remove personal details, select the problem, and choose Send this report. Sending is optional and does not change saved progress.

For a text or narration correction, email the question number and a brief explanation to help@spxc.app.

Your data

Names, progress, and saved answer transcripts are stored on your device. We do not save or upload your voice audio. Optional Semantic Review sends transcribed answer text through AWS to TypeSafe after an adult enables it.

See Your data & choices for how to stop sharing, delete shared reports and metrics, or remove a local learner. Read the privacy policy for details about processing and retention.

Deleting and reinstalling the app can remove local progress and the installation identity used to delete shared data. Use the in-app deletion control first if you want to remove shared data.
